Marguerite E. "Peggy" Leta
June 3, 1948 - January 26, 2024

Marguerite E. (Peggy) Leta, 75, of Williamsport, passed away peacefully at UPMC Williamsport on January 26, 2024.

She was born at home in Kennett Square, PA on June 3, 1948, a daughter of the late Joseph and Marguerite (Reed) Leto.

Peggy graduated from Kennett Square High School and went on to receive her diploma from dental hygiene school in Washington DC. Peggy was a good athlete in high school. She lettered in field hockey, basketball and track and she received the school's most valuable female athlete award during her senior year.

Peggy enjoyed working as a dental hygienist for Dr. Charles Pagana for twenty years. In 1989, she transitioned into a new career as she and her husband partnered with their dear friend, Robert Griffin, Jr., to own and operate the Shamrock Bar and Grill. Peggy took great pride in her work and she really cared about the lives of her customers and staff.

With her quick wit and sharp tongue, to see her in her element at work was truly a precious sight to behold.

Peggy was a member of The Church of the Ascension in Newberry and Red Run Rod & Gun Club in Ralston. Peggy liked to have a good time. An avid sports fan, she cheered for the Millionaires, Penn State, the Steelers and Phillies, but her absolute favorite was Coach K. and his Duke Blue Devils. Peggy loved the action, always ready for a friendly wager, Triple Crown bet or a few spins on Franklin. Peg was often seen where she felt most at home, out working in the yard with her dog. She loved flowers, cooking, floating in her pool and just being around her friends and family. The birth of her granddaughter was her greatest joy in life.

Her loving husband of 38 years, Joseph A. Leta, died November 12, 2006.

Surviving are her son, Todd J. Leta of Williamsport; granddaughter, Mia Lamparter of Dover, PA; son-in-law, Matthew Lamparter of Dover, PA; sister Johanna (Lewis) DiCecco of Fresno, CA and many dearly loved nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her, parents and her husband, her daughter, Tina M. Lamparter; sister, Karen Regn and brother, Joseph Leto Jr. preceded her in death.

There will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 702 W. 4th St. Williamsport, 10 a.m.

Tuesday, February 6, 2024 with the Rev. David W. Bechtel officiating. Burial will follow at Wildwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family respectfully suggest memorial contributions in Marguerite's name may be made to either the Old Lycoming Twp.
